Hispanic Retreat Recap

The Hispanic Retreat at IRBC was held August 18-19 with 169 attendees! Orlando and Debbie Collazo, missionaries with Baptist Church Planters serving in Lorain, OH were the speakers. Hannah Till, a BJU college student, taught the children. David and Ana Lee Heckart, serving in Marshalltown, IA, taught the teens and led the music. Herb and Wanda Taylor of Baptist Church Planters plan this ministry every year and they were very encouraged by the turnout and the encouraging events of the weekend. Praise the LORD!...

Sweet Fellowship, Straight Talk About Physical Intimacy, And True Accountability… By David Cotner Sweet Fellowship, Straight Talk About Physical Intimacy, And True Accountability… When asked to describe the most recent Men’s Retreat at Iowa Regular Baptist Camp (IRBC), three concepts floated up fast to the surface of my mind: Sweet Fellowship. Straight Talk About Physical Intimacy. And True Accountability. This, I believe, would accurately sum up this year’s Men’s Retreat at IRBC. Let me explain… 1. Sweet Fellowship – This is probably the greatest benefit of attending Men’s Retreat. That is to say, you get to connect with the other guys in your church! I mean really connect socially, mentally, spiritually, and (dare I say it) emotionally. For me, the van ride up to Men’s Retreat is 3 1/2 hours. That’s 3 1/2 hours of jokes, catching up, and encouraging one another in our individual walks with the Lord. I’m an introvert by nature, but I love the awesome fellowship that takes place during Men’s Retreat (all of it) en route, there, and on the way back. 2. Straight Talk About Physical Intimacy – Dr. Jim Tillotson (President of Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary) delivered a two-part message on the importance of physical intimacy in a God-honoring, Christ-exalting, biblical marriage. Maranatha Baptist Church Calls Lance Augsburger

Maranatha Baptist Church of Grimes has called Lance Augsburger to be their new senior pastor. Lance and his wife, Carrie, are currently finishing up their ministries at Faith Baptist Bible College. Lance has served as the Dean of Men and Dean of Students and Carrie has served as the Dean of Women. Pastor Augsburger graduated from Faith with his BA in Biblical Studies and from the seminary with his Master of Divinity. Pastor Augsburger candidated on June 18 and June 25 and accepted the call on July 2. He will begin full-time ministry at Maranatha on September 1 and the church would like to invite those in our fellowship to attend an installation service for Pastor Augsburger on September 17 at 1:30 p.m. at Maranatha Baptist Church, 877 SE 19th Street, Grimes, Iowa.  Pastor Craig Johnson, Pastor Bryan Augsburger, and Pastor Tim Capon will be speaking at this special event....
