Pastor Mark & Arleta Baker Celebrate 50 Years of Ministry

Mark Alan Baker is the Senior Pastor at Berean Baptist Church in Davenport. What started as a small Bible study was formed into a church, back in the sixties, and in 1972 this new church, Berean Baptist, called a young man and his wife Arleta to Davenport, Iowa from Dallas Theological Seminary. They began their ministry the first Sunday in July of that year (July 4, 1972). Since that Sunday, they have continued to serve at Berean. Pastor Mark has not missed a message on Sunday, except for vacations for almost fifty years!

Berean Baptist Church celebrated Mark and Arleta Baker’s fifty years of ministry with a special service on June 5, 2022. We hope they will be “glad with exceeding joy” (1 Peter 4:13) as they celebrate this milestone in ministry (and they are not retiring)!

FBBC Employment Opportunity

We are excited to announce plans to add a new Early Childhood Education Program! Once established, students could enroll in a two-year associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or earn an endorsement with the four-year Elementary Education degree. The four-year degree, combined with this endorsement, would provide the credentials to teach and care for children from birth to sixth grade.

We seek your help to find a like-minded, mission-fit person to serve as program director.

Our ideal candidate will have experience in early childhood education, preferably with a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. If you know of someone who is highly experienced and competent without a Master’s degree, FBBC is willing to talk to them about paying their tuition expenses to pursue one.

Some of the responsibilities of the program director would include:

  • Developing the Early Childhood Education Program
  • Constructing and teaching courses
  • Advising students

If you know of anyone who may be qualified and interested in this position, please direct them to this page on our website:
