For over 50 years, the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches has been hosting fine arts competitions through Talents for Christ and more recently, EQUIP.  We find great value in assisting churches in their effort to “…equip the saints for the work of the ministry, for building up the body of Christ…” (Ephesians 4:12).  In the past we were able to offer substantial scholarships for competition winners, however, that is no longer the case.  Due to this foundational change, rather than continue our own fine arts competition, we would like to introduce you to the Mid-America Association of Christian Schools (MAACS).  Hundreds of Christian teens come to Faith Baptist Bible College in March to compete in the areas of academics, Bible, art, music, and speech.  First – third place winners are recognized at the awards program on the final day.

Here are just a few of the benefits from the MAACS competition

·        Tremendous opportunity in developing talents and abilities for life skills and ministry in a wide variety of categories.

·        Evening concert and performances at pre-award and award program are a great encouragement to students, parents, sponsors, and friends attending from Christian schools, groups, and churches.

·        Great fellowship with Christian students from Christian schools, homeschool groups, youth group from our region of the country.

·        College scholarship opportunities available for juniors and seniors from Faith Baptist Bible College, though guaranteed scholarship amounts are not awarded.

The Junior High/Senior High Bible, Academics & Fine Arts Competition (BAFA) will be held at FBBC on March 21-22

Details concerning the competition are on the MAACS website – www.MAACS.org.  Contact the MAACS office at tsouth@tri-city.org or (816) 229-0197 for additional information.
