First Baptist Church of Monroe welcomed a new pastor at the beginning of 2019. Pastor Josh Palma, his wife Lindsay, and their two girls came to Monroe from Illinois where Josh had served as the associate pastor of music and discipleship at First Baptist Church in Pana. Pastor Palma began the process in June 2018 and candidated the weekend of October 7th. During that weekend, he spent time with church members, taught Sunday School, preached, and participated in a Q&A time. The church then voted to extend a call. The Palmas accepted the call, and then spent some time finalizing the transition (including God providing a buyer for their home in less than two weeks!) through the end of the year.
An installation service for Pastor Palma was held on January 6th, which Pastor Palma described as an “encouraging time”.

Pastor Josh Palma grew up in Moorhead, Minnesota under the care of godly parents, where he placed his faith in Christ at a young age. Pastor Josh graduated from Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary in Ankeny, Iowa. He received his B.A. in Biblical Studies in 2009, followed by his Master of Divinity in 2012. It was during his time at Faith that Josh met his wife, Lindsay, and they were married in 2011.
