Calvary Baptist Church, Greene Jul 9 Written By IARBC . Calvary Baptist Church of Greene was started in 1945 as the result of home Bible studies by people who loved the Word of God. The church has continued to preach the gospel and teach the Word of God in rural north central Iowa ever since. After 6 years without a pastor, Ben Hartwig and his wife Stacy came in 2009 to minister at Calvary. By God’s grace and power, He has strengthened the church and grown us to greater health. We have seen people saved, people restored to active church involvement, and the community impacted for Jesus. The church built an addition in 2014 to get restrooms on the main level and additional classroom space. Since then, almost every room of the building has been updated. We have grown in love for one another and have a visible presence in the town of Greene. The town of Greene has become home for the Hartwigs with their 5 children. They built a house there in 2020 and Pastor Ben serves on the volunteer fire department and on the local cemetery board. He also serves on the Council of 10 as Secretary. As we continue to minister to Greene and the surrounding area, we seek to keep our eyes on Jesus. We are looking for ways that we can be a blessing to others in serving the Lord, whether it be in area local churches, missionaries, or like-minded ministries. God continues to grow us in Christlikeness and to give us gospel opportunities with those around us. Church Highlight IARBC .
