Urbandale Baptist Church

Urbandale Baptist Church (UBC) was established in 1964 and this year marks its 60th anniversary. The church was founded by Pastor A.D. Mohr of Grandview Park Baptist Church, who advertised a new Bible study in the Urbandale area in a local newspaper. The church's present property was purchased in the same year, and the auditorium was built with contributions from several area churches including Grandview Park Baptist Church, Ankeny Baptist Church, Norwoodville Baptist Church, and Airport Baptist Church (now Soteria Church). In 1965, the church became a member of the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches. In 1996, along with other area churches, UBC helped to establish Maranatha Baptist Church in Grimes, Iowa.

Pastor Nathan Gast has served as the Pastor at Urbandale Baptist Church for 10 years since his arrival on October 1, 2013. He is married to Shana, whom he met while working full-time at Iowa Regular Baptist Camp. They have three children - Bethany, Lily, and Noah. Before coming to Urbandale, Pastor Nathan graduated from Faith Baptist Bible College and served as pastor at Fair Haven Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas for eight years. He has served on the Mid-Continent Association of Regular Baptist Churches Council of Six and the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches Council of 10. He also recently completed two three-year terms on the Urbandale Community Food Pantry board of directors.

At Urbandale Baptist Church, Personal Evangelism is key to reaching their community with the gospel. Each year they hold a Vacation Bible School during the summer and a Trunk or Treat event in October. They also hold Christmas Eve Candlelight Services, Men's Chili Cookoffs,  Women's Cupcake Showdowns, Men's Night Outs, and Women's Night Outs. However, it is the one-on-one personal redemptive relationships that they endeavor to start and build upon that have given them the most fruit. In recent weeks they have seen several people come to Christ through these personal relationships! Some have been very short-term friendships, and others over many years, but God is faithful as they have been faithful.

Please pray for Pastor Nathan and the Urbandale Baptist Church family as they work to spread the gospel to their community! To learn more about UBC, please visit their website: https://www.urbandalebaptistchurch.org.
